Order to close Tuam carpark appealed to Supreme Court

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A High court order to close a controversial car park in Tuam town has been appealed to the Supreme Court.

Last month, High Court Justice, John Hedigan, ordered that the split-level carpark, owned by Joe O’ Toole, near Palace Grounds, be closed on January 5th.

The order followed a legal case taken by several locals in Tuam, who argued that the car park was unauthorised.

Now, it’s understood, barristers for Mr. O’ Toole will argue that there is some planning permission granted in relation to the development.

A hearing is scheduled before the Supreme Court on Friday January 17th and a stay has been put on the closure of the carpark until then.
