Oranmore Start Season In Style

NEWLY promoted Oranmore made the perfect start to life in the Western Hygiene Supplies Premier Division with a well merited victory over the home side at Westside on Saturday afternoon.
A talented Rangers side are always worthy of a mention when potential is talked about, but for whatever reason they always seem to come up short when the honours are been handed out. On this occasion. they played their part in an entertaining and competitive contest and after going behind early on, they recovered well and led by 3-2 at the break.
However the second half was pretty well dominated by the visitors and after levelling matters just after the restart through Brian Mannion, they struck for a well deserved late winner when substitute Shane O’Neill slotted home from close range.
Oranmore certainly look like a side who will causeteams plenty of problems this season as some neat vision in midfield is matched by a skilful and impressive front two of Brian Mannion and David Devlin who led the home rearguard a merry dance throughout.
While the visitors hit the target on four occasions, they missed a string of other opportunities and only for the woodwork and goalkeeper Ryan Griffin, the margin would have been much greater. On the other hand, their cause was helped by a weak home defence that was exposed…
