Oral hearing underway into city retail development
Galway Bay fm newsroom – An oral hearing into a proposed controversial retail development on the west side of the city got underway in the past hour.
Micheál Ó hUigínn has planning permission for the multi-million euro supermarket development at Séamus Quirke road.
The planning permission has been appealed by some local residents.
Mr. Ó hUigínn has also appealed a condition of the planning in relation to providing a new access road through the development.
T. Ó Higgins and Co Limited is represented by a team of consultants from McCarthy, Keville and O’Sullivan.
Members of the planning and transportation units are present on behalf of the City Council, as well as An Taisce and locals from the Westside/Shantalla areas.
An Bord Pleanala has appointed Inspector Derek Daly to preside over proceedings which are underway at the Westwood Hotel in Newcastle.
