ORAL HEARING ON PROPOSAL FOR TUAM DIGESTION PLANT
Date Published: 09-Jan-2013
An oral hearing will take place later this month on a proposal for a biogas and anaerobic digestion facility in Tuam.
The hearing is set to commence next Tuesday week (Jan 22nd) and is estimated to last three days.
The plant at the former sugar factory site in Airglooney is proposed to generate energy by recycling beet, silage and other green waste.
Up to eleven submissions on the plans have been lodged with an Bord Pleanala since the controversial project was given the go-ahead by county planners last July subject to 15 conditions in areas including public health, safety and traffic management.
The list of submissions include Airglooney Residents Association, the Tuam Biogas Concern Group, Connacht Wool Tuam Limited and St Colemans Anglers Association.
The oral hearing begins on Tuesday week in the Ard Ri House Hotel in Tuam.
An Bord Pleanala is due to make its decision by the middle of next month(14/02/13).
John Joyce is spokesperson for the Tuam Biogas Concern Group and says a wide range of issues will be discussed
