ORAL HEARING INTO CONNEMARA POWER LINE FINISHES
Date Published: 15-May-2009
An oral hearing in relation to a new high powered electricity line from Galway to Connemara has come to an end and an inspector for An Bord Pleanála will begin compiling a report today.
The hearing began in Maam Cross on April 28th and finished last evening.
According to the ESB, the 110 kilovolt line is needed in Connemara as electricity demand in the area has doubled in the past decade.
Over 20 agencies, including Galway County Council and Údarás na Gaeltachta attended the hearing over the past two weeks.
An Bord Pleanála’s inspector will now compile a report on the hearing and submit it to the Board.
