The new Opel GSe range.

Opel’s GSe badge has been the company’s performance sub-brand down through the years. Now pricing and equipment details of two new, special-order GSe models have been released for the Irish market.

Offering the optimum balance between ride, comfort and performance, combined with emissions-free electric mobility, the new Opel Astra plug-in electric hybrid GSe 225hp hatchback will retail from €52,695 plus delivery-related charges, whilst the Opel Grandland GSe 300hp AWD will retail from €59,995 plus delivery.

Order books are now open for both models. An Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe model will complete the range in late 2023.

The Opel Astra GSe hatchback combines a 1.6 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine (133kW/180hp) with an electric motor (81.2kW / 110hp). With its impressive power output of 165 kW / 225hp and maximum torque of 360 Newton metres (WLTP combined fuel consumption: 1.1 – 1.2 l / 100 km, CO2 emissions 25-26 g / km), it accelerates to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds and boasts a top speed of 235km/h, or up to 135km/h in pure electric.

The 12.4kWh lithium-ion battery delivers up to 64km all-electric drive on the open road, or up to 73km in the city (EAER City). The battery is fully charged in around 2 hours at a 22kW wallbox.

Standard equipment for the range-topping Astra GSe in Ireland will include 18” alloy wheels, the eye-catching Opel black pack (black roof, black badging, black lettering), black Alcantara GSe trim, AGR certified seats, heated steering wheel and seats, Pure Panel Pro cockpit, and front + rear park assist with 360-degree camera.

It also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, lane keeping and change assist, autonomous emergency braking system (vehicle + cyclist + night), speed limit recognition, intelligent speed adaptation, extended traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and start, tinted side and back windows, ambient interior light and LED daytime running lamps.
