Galway businesses will compete for a prize fund totalling more than €20,000 in the second annual Online Marketing in Galway Awards which were launched this week.

The awards will acknowledge businesses based in Galway which market themselves online across a number of categories.

They will celebrate the best digital talent in Galway with awards for Best Website, Best Blog, Best Social Media Campaign, a People’s Choice Award and Overall Marketing Leadership.

Last year’s awards, the first, attracted over 100 entries across all categories with Kinlay Hostel emerging as overall winner.

The awards are held in partnership with Galway’s Local Enterprise Office and the Connacht Tribune Group.

“We are delighted to support the awards for the second year and acknowledge those who excel in marketing their businesses on line,” said Breda Fox, Head of Enterprise at Galway LEO.

“We know from supporting growing businesses that those with an on line presence grow twice as fast and export twice as much as those without a digital strategy,” she added.

Entries will be judged by panels of experts in each category from which a shortlist of finalists will be published at the end of March.

“Any business, no matter what size they are, should enter if they have a presence in any of the categories,” said Dave Hickey, Group CEO at the Connacht Tribune.

The awards will be presented at a celebration at the Town Hall Theatre, Galway on Thursday, April 8. The evening will also include a panel discussion with three top speakers from the world of digital marketing and content.

Other key sponsors include Irish Apps and Ireland West Airport Knock

Nominations are now open for all categories and entries can be made through the OMiG website at www.galwaymarketing.ie/awards/. Closing date is Friday, March 13.
