ONE THIRD OF CITY BURGLARIES AT UNSECURED PROPERTIES
Over 36 percent of burglaries in the city so far this year have taken place in unsecured properties.
Figures provided at a meeting of the city Joint Policing Committee show that 77 incidents of burglary were recorded from January to March – a drop of 22 percent on the same period last year.
Cllr Declan McDonnell questioned the figures and said in all his time as a councillor, he has never had so many people coming to him about burglaries.
In 28 of the 77 cases, entry was gained through an unsecure window or door.
