Oliver! at The Town Hall

CONSIDER yourself invited to 9 Arch Musical Society’s 8th annual production, the Tony-award winning musical, Oliver, which opens next Wednesday, November 18 in the Town Hall Theatre.
Katie Creaven, who was nominated for an AIMS award, joins over 30 local children, with 11-year-old Conor Walsh in the title role for this show.
One of the greatest musicals of all time, Oliver won three Tony awards when it appeared on stage over 40 years ago. Featuring musical classics such as Food, Glorious Food, I’d Do Anything, Where is Love?, Consider Yourself, As Long As He Needs Me, and WhoWIill Buy?, this show continues to captivate children and adults alike.
Oliver is based on Charles Dickens’ moving tale of Oliver Twist, an orphan boy who escapes from the orphanage only to end up in the company of pickpockets. When he finally gets a chance to live a good life, love and hate do battle as the criminal Sykes and his girlfriend, Nancy, have different ideas for the young boy.
Dickens’ characters are always larger-than-life, and the musical captures his unforgettable creations.
Pat Walsh plays the villainous Bill Sykes, and is joined by Richard Bell as Fagin. Katie Creaven returns to 9 Arch as Nancy, and Josh Coughlan brings The Artful Dodger to life. Claregalway’s own Mike Glynn plays Mr Bumble.
Tim Landers returns to Galway to direct this production. Shane Farrell is Musical Director and Antoinette Casserley is choreographer.
Oliver will continue at 8pm from Thursday next, November 19 to Saturday, 21. In addition, there is a 2.30pm matinee scheduled for Saturday November 21. Tickets at tht.ie or by phone on 091 569777
