OLD MERVUE RESIDENTS TO GET NEW WATER MAINS CONNECTION

Almost a year after the lead crisis in the city, the city council has confirmed that works to replace the water mains in Old Mervue will begin next week.

In six weeks time, 191 homes in the area will be connected from the stopcock to the new water mains, giving householders the option to replace their internal pipes.

60 houses in Old Mervue have already been connected to new water mains, which had to be replaced following the revelation of lead contamination in parts of the city’s water supply last August.
