OIREACHTAS HEALTH COMMITTEE SEEKS UPDATE ON SAVITA ENQUIRY

The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children has formally written to the Health Minister seeking a progress report on the Savita Halappanavar inquiry.

It follows a request from Independent TD Denis Naughten who says that many mothers across the west of Ireland and staff at Galway University Hospital are anxious that this report is completed.

The 31 year old died at University Hospital Galway on the 28th October 2012 after suffering a miscarriage and contracting septicaemia.

The inquest into her death is to begin on Monday April 8th.

In a recent Dail reply Minister Reilly confirmed that he received the Investigation Team’s progress report into the tragic death of Ms Halappanavar before Christmas.
