OFFICIALS RESOLVE TAXI SIGNAL INTERFERENCE AT CITY PEDESTRIAN LIGHTS
Date Published: 08-Jun-2012
A technical glitch which caused lights to incorrectly change at nine city pedestrian crossings has now been resolved.
It follows an investigation by Galway City Council into the reported impact of taxi computer systems on the lights.
The matter was initially highlighted by City Councillor and taxi-driver Frank Fahy who raised concerns regarding the impact on city traffic flow.
The lights supplier has now installed a component known as a “ferrite” or iron core which nullifies the effect of the taxi radio signal.
