O’Cuiv calls on BIM to withdraw application for fish farm off Inis Oirr

The Fianna Fail Deputy says it should be withdrawn pending discussion between the Marine Institute and Inland Fisheries Ireland regarding the possible impact of sea lice on salmon stocks.

He says that Minister Simon Coveney has informed him that the EU Commission has received information relating to the matter and has advised the department.

The European Union consideration process is expected to take eight weeks.

Deputy O’Cuiv says the application should be withdrawn until such important investigations reach a conclusion.
