A city man who’s charged in connection with a shooting in the city in April which resulted in another man losing part of his hand, has been sent forward for trial

Anthony McDonagh of 37 Tulach Ard, Circular Road has been remaned in custody following his appearance before the holiday sittings of Galway District Court this week.

42 year old champion weightlifter Anthony McDonagh faces two charges of having a sawn-off shotgun and a shotgun cartridge in his possession with intent to endanger life at Whitestrand Road, Salthill on April 18

He’s further charged with intentionally or recklessly causing harm to Martin Ward on the same date.

Judge Conal Gibbons sent Anthony McDonagh forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court, commencing on October 7 and he remanded him in custody to that date.
