The first drama in two decades from acclaimed playwright Eugene O’Brien will be staged at the Town Hall next Wednesday, November 2.

This new work is called Heaven and, like his debut work, Eden, for which he won the Rooney Prize, it’s set in Offaly.

The production is a collaboration with Fishamble: The New Play Company and the play is billed as “hilariously funny, and deeply moving”.

The action is set over the weekend of a local wedding as the central characters Mairead and Mal are struggling to keep their own marriage intact. The wedding might help – or it might raise uncomfortable questions for both.
