OBJECTION TO KILCOLGAN EDUCATION COMPLEX

A local resident is objecting to plans for a new education complex in Kilcolgan.

In August, the County Council granted planning permission to Educate Together Kilcolgan for a new 8 classroom primary school, a creche and medical consulting rooms.

However an appeal has now been lodged to An Bord Pleanála against the development.

In the appeal document, a local resident argues that the school development would negatively impact on the N18/N67 junction.

It’s also argued that there would be a risk to pedestrians and cyclists and that a full traffic impact assessment was not submitted with the application.

Educate Together Kilcolgan has 87 pupils and is currently operating out of 4 classrooms in a commercial building in the village.

An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision on the education complex for Kilcolgan early next year.
