O’Shea says goodbye with winner

CLUB captain Jay O’Shea’s last deed for Galway United – a 90th-minute winner against struggling Bray Wanderers – could prove his most crucial.

The U-21 Ireland International’s goal against bottom club Bray at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday night gives United some breathing space in the relegation battle and moves them a comfortable seven points clear of the Seagulls and gives them a boost heading into this weekend’s Connacht Derby.

United will more than likely take on Sligo Rovers this comingFriday night at Terryland without O’Shea, who looks certain to be heading to ply his trade in England next season. Middlesborough are in pole position to lure the striker but scouts from Portsmouth, Derby County, Watford and Falkirk were all at the seaside venue on Friday to monitor the winger.

“Hopefully my agent will sort something out and hopefully I’ll be going to England. He and Nick Leeson have told me it was my last game for the club,” said O’Shea after the match.
