O Domhnaill is wary of threat posed by men of Monaghan

FORMER All-Ireland winning footballer Sean O Domhnaill believes Galway will be facing a “caged animal” in Monaghan when they meet in their final Super 8s group game at Pearse Stadium on Saturday, warning this will be Kevin Walsh’s side’s greatest test since their National League final defeat to Dublin.
Although Galway are already qualified for the All-Ireland semi-final, O Domhnaill says the Westerners cannot afford to lose momentum now by suffering a defeat on Saturday and, consequently, he sees this as arguably their biggest game of the year to date.
“I mean, you read the media and you hear people saying Galway will put out a weak team, that they will give guys a chance, but winning is a habit and losing is a habit,” states 1998 hero O Domhnaill.
“If he look at the likes of Kildare and especially Roscommon, where they are going now for four in a row losses, Kevin wouldn’t be going with the scenario ‘ah, we will give everyone a run’. It doesn’t work like that.”
O Domhnaill concedes there might be a change or two in the starting fifteen from the Kildare tie but that may be down to injury or to rotate players like Adrian Varley, who was so impressive in kicking two points from play when coming on off the bench against Kerry.
“If you look at Varley, he is one who could start. He is coming into matches anyway with 20 minutes or a half hour to go and the team is not going to be weakened in any way if that were to be the scenario going in against Monaghan.”
