O Cuiv welcomes decision to extend grant to island farmers

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway West TD has welcomed a decision to extend Area of National Constraint payments to island farmers from 2015.
Fianna Fail TD Eamon O Cuiv says that the ANC Scheme will provide payments of €150 per forage hectare to farmers resident on islands and €75 per forage hectare for non-resident farmers.
He says the proposed grant upgrades will make a significant difference to island farmers and recognise the extra expenses of farming on islands.
Deputy O Cuiv says that a number of farmers in Connemara will benefit from the scheme.
