Momentum in favour of running a candidate in the forthcoming Presidential appears to be growing in the Fianna Fáil organisation in Galway West.

A senior figure in the party in Connemara, former Co Councillor Josie Conneely, has made a public statement this morning suggesting that Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív should be put forward by Fianna Fáil as the party candidate for the Presidency.

Mr Conneely is the Chairman of the West Connemara branch of Fianna Fail and he says the party must not sit on the fence while others contest this year’s presidential election.
