Numbers waiting for social housing in city drops

Galway bay fm newsroom – The number of people waiting for social housing in the city has dropped.

Figures published by the Irish Independent reval there are 3,416 waiting on the council list, 4 percent less than the 2011 number of 3,535.

However, average waiting times are 10 years.

The survey of the state’s 114 city, county, town and borough councils show that some counties have recorded a five fold increase in their waiting lists.

Over 111 thousand people are now seeking a home from their local authority.
