NUIG STUDENTS UNION PUTS PRESSURE ON LABOUR TDS
Date Published: 03-Mar-2011
Galway’s two newly elected Labour TDs are coming under pressure not to re-introduce third level fees.
Before the election, the Labour Party promised not to re-introduce third level fees in any form including student loans, graduate taxes and any further increase in the STudent Contribution to Higher Education.
Labour also signed the Union of Students in Ireland’s Election Pledge.
NUI Galway’s Student’s Union is now reminding new Labour TD for Galway West Derek Nolan and Galway East Colm Keaveney about the commitment.
The union is concerned after Labour’s Ruairi Quinn said Labour had no red line issues that could not be negotiated.
