NUIG scientists a step closer to a cure for osteo arthritis
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Scientists at NUI Galway have moved a step closer to finding a cure for osteo-arthritis.
The team is studying the appplication of stem cell therapy thanks to an EU grant of just over nine million euro.
One in every two Irish people over 50 experience problems with arthritis with the figure close to 30 million across the EU.
Professor Frank Barry of NUI Galway, says the work being carried out at the Irish end of the research is producing positive results.
