NUIG RESEARCH SAYS FEWER YOUNG PEOPLE SMOKING

Research carried out by NUIGalway for the Department of Health and Children shows the number of young people smoking has decreased significantly.
A Health Behaviour in School Children survey has found that since 1998 , 25 percent less young people between 10 and 17 are smoking.
The HSBC Study 2006 was undertaken by the Health Promotion Research Centre at NUIG.
The Office of Tobacco Control is welcoming the results with Chief Executive Eamon Rossi saying certain measures are having a very positive effect.
