NUIG PROFESSOR PUBLISHES STROKE STUDY

A study on stroke, co-written by a lecturer at NUIGalway identifies 10 risk factors associated with 90 percent of stroke cases.

The INTERSTROKE study has just been published and shows that high blood pressure, smoking and waist-to-hip ratio are associated with stroke.

Professor Martin O Donnell of NUIG co-wrote the study with Dr. Salim Yusuf of McMaster University in Canada, which was presented at the World Congress of Cardiology in Beijing.
