NUIG Professor appointed as advisor to IMF

Galway Bay fm news – An economics professor at NUI Galway has been appointed as Advisor to the International Monetary Fund.
Head of Economics at NUIG, Professor Alan Ahearne, has been appointed External Advisor to the Strategy, Practice and Review Department of the IMF.
He will advise senior IMF management how the Fund could better support countries to boost growth and create jobs.
Professor Ahearne previously served as Special Advisor to the Minister for Finance, the late Brian Lenihan from 2009 to 2011.
