NUIG PRESIDENT DEFENDS COLLEGES POSITION ON UNPAID STUDENT FEES

NUI Galway students, still awaiting local authority grants, have not been denied access to services, according to Dr James Browne.

President Browne and his fellow University bosses were up before a Dail Committee today.

They’re defending their approach to dealing with students struggling to pay third level registration fees.

The Union of Students in Ireland claim some students are being denied access to some services because they haven’t paid the fee.

Under questioning from Galway Senator Fidelma Healy Eames, Dr Browne assured the Committee there had been no blocking of services at NUIG:
