A ‘land swap’ between NUIGalway and property owners on Newcastle Road in the city has been agreed.

NUIG bought houses from residents on Newcastle Road so it could develop a new entrance to the University to tackle traffic congestion on Distillery Road.

It’s understood these residents will be accommodated in the same area.

Now NUIG has applied to city planners to build 30 apartments and 10 houses on a site north of the entrance to Corrib Village at Dangan as part of the land swap deal.
