The NUIG Concert Orchestra with special guests The Whileaways, will present their annual Spring Concert, on Monday next, March 27, in the Bailey Allen Hall, in NUI Galway, at 8pm.

The programme will include Jurassic Park by John Williams, Wedding day At Troldhaugen by Edvard Greig, and Rondeau and Minuet from Suite No. 2 in B minor by J.S Bach. The programme will also include several original songs from The Whileaways,  who are Nicola Joyce, Noriana Kennedy and Noelie McDonnell. Before releasing their debut album in 2013, all three members had built up impressive musical CVs. Noriana had released the excellent Ebb and Flow, Nicola had toured around the world as a member of Gráda and Noelie had recorded three albums and shared a stage with John Prine.

The Whileaways have appeared on The Late Late Show and played a poignant version of So Long, Marianne on Radio 1’s Today with Seán O’Rourke the day after Leonard Cohen’s death. They are currently working on their third album.

The NUIG Concert Orchestra will be conducted by  Headford man Matthew Berrill, a prolific musician in his own right and the current director of the Galway Jazz Festival.

Tickets cost €10, and €6 with concessions. Tickets are available from the Socs Box in NUIG, Campbell’s Tavern in Headford, Rustics Pub in Tuam, and on the door also.
