NUIG LEADS THE WAY IN RESEARCH INTO CHILDREN’S DIETS
Date Published: 17-Jun-2008
The diets of Irish children are improving according to new research by NUI Galway’s Health Promotion Research Centre.
The centre has co-produced a major report on ‘Inequalities in Young Peoples Health’ presenting findings on key health and well-being measures among young people in 41 countries across Europe and North America.
It highlights health inequalities between boys and girls and also between children from more, and less affluent families.
Irish children showed many positive habits including a high rate of physical activity and breakfast eating.
However Co-author of the report Dr Saoirse Nic Gabhainn says there is more work to be done.
