NUIG HOSTS INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS ON MOLECULES THAT INFLUENCE DISEASE
Date Published: 19-May-2011
International experts will gather at NUIGalway from Saturday to discuss a new type of molecule, which can influence diseases such as cancer.
MicroRNAs are a class of newly discovered molecules within our cells that control the activity of genes.
When the behaviour of these molecules is perturbed, disease can arise.
MicroRNA research at NUIG has been a growing area since 2006.
These researchers will support a team of 22 scientists from all over the world as part of a course to examine the latest techniques for investigating microRNAs.
