NUI Galway has condemned unequivocally any anti-social behaviour by its students.

In a statement issued to Galway Bay fm news this afternoon, the University says any students identified as NUI Galway students will be dealt with by means of the disciplinary process as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Its comments come following a number of public order arrests in the city overnight as part of the unofficial rag week celebrations.

Meanwhile, a long queue has also formed this afternoon on Eyre Street as part of the unofficial student celebrations.

Gardai are monitoring the queue and say barriers are in place.
