NUI Galway projects to get share of 1.7 million euro fellowship fund

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Three NUI Galway projects are set to receive a share of a 1.7 million euro research fellowship fund.
The Industrial Reseach fellowships have been announced by the Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, and twenty new industry-academia partnerships nationwide will benefit.
Three NUI Galway research projects will receive funding under the scheme, which is run by the Science Foundation of Ireland.
Dr Therese O’Mahony’s work on delivery systems for prevention and treatment of bovine Johne’s Disease has been selected.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Westway Health.
Professor Manfred Hauswirth’s work with large-scale intergration and utility streams in real smart-city environments will be delivered in collaboration with Siemens.
The third project to receive funding is a regulatory compliant cell product for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
This project is being delivered by Dr Daniel O’Toole in partnership with Galway-based company, Orbsen Therapeutics.
The Industry Fellowship Programme provides researchers with an opportunity to gain important first-hand experience in a commercial research environment.
