Nothing beats live stage – not even massive Spotify success

Stephanie Rainey... Galway date this week.

Cork singer/songwriter Stephanie Rainey shot to fame in 2015 with Please Don’t Go, a delicate piano ballad that dealt with themes of loss and grief. The song transformed her career overnight – to date, amassing over seven million streams on Spotify – but the whirlwind that followed its release was difficult for Stephanie to fully experience.

It is over the last eighteen months, with a string of original singles, that she has emerged as an established Irish artist.

Those songs will be performed as part of her set in Galway’s Róisín Dubh this Thursday, April 14. Her singles have been performing well online but their shift to a live setting will see them develop further.

It is the first date of a rescheduled Irish tour and marks a return to the city for Stephanie. It is a place and venue of which Stephanie speaks very highly.

“Galway is the first date, this Thursday,” she details.

“I’m buzzing to get back playing live. It’s just been such a long time and a long time since I was in Galway. These gigs have been so strange to promote because we couldn’t even really start talking about them until the restrictions were lifted because we moved everything so many times. Now they’re finally happening.

“We’re down here at the moment in rehearsals, getting the show together. It’s so great being in a room with musicians and playing the new songs that I released over Covid and everything like that. I’m so excited to be back and the Róisín Dubh is gonna be such a buzz.
