NORTH WEST MEP HITS OUT AT MOBILITY ALLOWANCE CUTS

North West MEP Marian Harkin has slammed the decision to axe the current mobility allowances.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that the allocation of over €10m – for the mobility allowance and the motorised transport grants this year, will be ring-fenced for a new scheme that will be legally compliant.

However MEP Harkin argues the government should have come up with an alternative allowance scheme before cutting the current one.
