Nortel Gathering to help Cancer Care West

The Nortel Gathering, which marks 40 years of Northern Telecom/Nortel/Avaya in Galway, has committed to raising funds for Cancer Care West at its  big celebration night in the Clayton Hotel next week.

All past and present staff from across the city and county as well as further afield are invited to the Nortel Gathering on Friday, October 18, for a night of reminiscing, fun and entertainment.

“Over 2,000 people have worked in the Mervue site since it opened in 1973,” says Tom Carr, one of the organisers of the Nortel Gathering.

“Lots of people have many friends they made in their time in Nortel and this is a great chance to catch up with some they may not have seen in many years.”

As well as great food there will be music, entertainment and a few surprises on the night.

Sharon Fitzpatrick of Cancer Care West said they have had a long relationship with Nortel and Avaya and had benefitted tremendously form their fundraising efforts over the years.
