City councillors have not yet voted on the controversial rezoning proposal for a site in Rahoon

Residents Associations in Highfield, Maunsells and Shantalla have heavily campaigned against the proposal to redesignate the site in Rahoon to allow a 35 million euro shopping centre development

A vote to re-zone the former yard on the Rahoon/Seamus Quirke Road is due to be taken at the city council meeting which got underway at 4pm

Councillors started discussing the matter at 5.45pm

The proposed rezoning of the site owned by former Fianna Fáil Mayor Micheal O hUiginn was narrowly defeated when it came to a vote in January

Following a legal challenge by Mr O hUiginn the vote is being re-taken this evening
