The ‘No Sale’ clauses attached to many planning permissions in Connemara – and in some other areas of Galway may be a factor in reducing the new property tax.

These clauses prevent the sale of houses on the open market on environmental or Irish language grounds.

Deputy Sean Kyne says the Finance Minister, Michael Noonan has told him that ‘no sale’ clauses could be put forward as a case to reduce property tax.
