No outer bypass decision for ‘several months’

With several months to go before a Bord Pleanála decision is made on the City Outer Bypass, it seems increasingly likely that any decision giving the green light to the project, will be appealed to Europe.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), the Hands Across the Corrib group and An Taisce, are now almost certain to take their case to Europe if the Bord Pleanála decision goes against them.

A Bord Pleanála decision on the €350m project is not likely for several months yet, following the oral hearing which ended last January. This week, a spokesperson for An Bord Pleanála told the Galway City Tribune that they were awaiting the inspector’s report on the hearing and that a decision would then be made as soon “as was practical”.
