No new home inspections carried out in County Galway

Galway County Council has not inspected any new homes for defects, despite the fallout from Priory Hall in Dublin.

According to today’s Irish Independent, 8 in every 10 houses and apartments in the country are not checked for structural defects or breaches of the fire safety code.

The figures show that not one house or apartment was inspected in Galway in 2011, because there was no building control officer.

Developers of properties with shoddy workmanship could face jail under new regulations being introduced from next March.
