NO MORE HALTING SITES PLANNED FOR COUNTY

Galway County Council has plans to provide 113 residences for the Travelling Community over the next five years.
But the Director of Housing Services in the Council – Frank Gilmore -says no further halting sites will be developed in County Galway.
The Draft Traveller Accomodation Programme that was placed before Galway County Councillors this week sets out the Council’s plan to provide accommodation at various locations throughout the county.
The largest number of residences will be provided in Tuam – a total of 26.
Twelve residences are to be provided in Ballinasloe town and 11 in Athenry.
Residences are also to be provided in 17 other towns and villages.
