NO IMMEDIATE PLANS TO CLOSE GALWAY CITY TO TRAFFIC
Date Published: 06-May-2008
There are no immediate plans to close off Galway city centre to traffic, according to Galway West T.D, Frank Fahey.
A proposal to tackle congestion in Dublin City Centre is contained in a draft report from the Oireachtas Transport Committee.
The proposal recommends the closing of many areas of Dublin city to traffic, except for buses and taxis within the next 12 months.
The report suggests a similiar plan could be rolled out in Galway, Cork, Waterford and Limerick.
Chairperson of the Transport Committee, Frank Fahey says there are immediate plans to close Galway to traffic but says a feasability study will be done.
