THE Galway footballers and hurlers will have to wait a little longer before finding out who their opening opponents will be in the 2021 provincial championships.

It follows the GAA decision on Monday to delay the draws for the provincial hurling and football championships due to the ongoing Covid crisis.

There are no indications when the draws will take place with all provincial title races again being run on a knock-out basis. Unlike 2020, there will be a qualifier route for football teams this summer.

Meanwhile, there is growing anticipation that inter-county training might be given the green light to resume towards the end of February – raising the prospect of the delayed National Leagues starting a month later.
