Nine year old inspired by Grace’s cancer battle

A nine year-old girl has been so touched by the battle that a city girl of almost the same age was going through that she decided to show her support – and has so far raised over €4,000.

Aoibheann Alfonso from Monivea has been following the story of Grace Kenneally and her battle with cancer for a long time and wanted to do something to help her – so she decided to cut her hair to help the fundraising effort. Grace was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma – a rare type of childhood cancer – when she was five.

Grace has just turned ten and is fighting this terrible cancer for the third time – and in order to access treatment abroad the Kenneally family are trying to raise much-needed funds.

So, Aoibheann cut off twelve inches of her lovely long hair to raise money for the Saving Grace Trust www.savinggrace.ie/

That hair is now making its way to the Little Princess Trust who use donated hair to make wigs and hairpieces for children who have been affected by cancer. Aoibheann has already raised well over €4,000, with all of that going directly to Saving Grace.
