NINE WEEK SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE TO BOOST CITY ECONOMY

Galway city has been selected to host a unique and pivotal scientific exhibition which will run for nine weeks, giving an economic boost to the city.
CERN, the world’s leading laboratory for particle physics is bringing its "Accelerating Science" exhibition to Leisureland in Salthill this September.
Earlier this month, Scientists at the CERN research centre discovered a new subatomic particle that could be the Higgs boson.
The Higgs boson is thought to give matter mass and is believed to be crucial in the formation of the universe.
The Galway exhibition aims to explain key scientific concepts such as the Higgs Boson and the Big Bang Theory.
Galway is the only Irish location to secure the prestigious show which takes place in Leisureland from the 16th September to the 9th of November.
Tom Hyland is Chairman of Galway Science and Technology Forum and says it’s a huge achievement for Galway.
