NEXT GENERATION BROADBAND COULD BE ANSWER TO GALWAY’S DEVELOPMENT PROBLEMS

Next generation broadband in three towns could be the answer to ensuring the survival of rural communities in Galway.

That’s according to Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty, the author of a new report that identifies the social and economic needs of the west of Ireland.

Senator Doherty began his work on the report last March, which has now gone forward to the Oireachtas for consideration.

The “Awakening the West” report maintains that Government policy is continuing to prioritise the East Coast, and it outlines several reccomendations for Galway.

These include investment in tourism, and a charter of rights for the Islands.
