Galway Bay fm newsroom – The controversy over an unauthorised car park in Tuam town remains unresolved with a Supreme court appeal likely to be lodged.
The matter came before the High Court this week.
It had been hoped that a resolution would have been reached between businessman Joe O’ Toole and a group representing many Palace Fields residents.
The matter came before the High Court this week, where Justice Hedigan ruled that the car parks at Supervalu in Tuam cannot be re-opened until the old Palace road is re-instated for pedestrians and cyclists.
However, it’s understood this High Court ruling will now be appealed to the Supreme Court by Joe O’ Toole, which could take months.
Earlier this year An Bord Pleanála refused planning permission to Joe O’ Toole to retain car parking and alterations to roads and footpaths at Townparks.
The car parks in Tuam will remain closed until a decision is made about the latest Supreme court appeal, however Supervalu remains open for business.
