New show, Stimuli, at Oughterard Courthouse
Stimuli is the first exhibition for the 2021 summer season at Oughterard Courthouse and it features work from members of the uachtarARTS group. The show will run from this Friday, July 2, to Sunday, July 11, and is open to the public.
Members of the uachtartARTS group who normally meet in the Courthouse, were unable to do so since March 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions. During the most recent lockdown, the committee decided to reconnect with members by sending out monthly themes which would act as a stimulus to create artwork. The members then posted these images on social media accounts each day and received an enthusiastic response from the artists as well as the broader public.
Members felt it had helped them to re-engage with their work and each other.
Stimuli will feature artworks from those monthly themes, alongside a selection of work from last year’s online Exhibition, Rianta, which was part of the Galway 2020 Set in Stone project.
The exhibition will feature artists Barbara Dunne, Celeste Auge, Colette NicAodha, Deirdre Stephens, Geraldine Folan, Gil Cusack, Grainne MacManus, Jess Walsh, Kathleen Furey, Kathleen Hinde, Lelia Ní Chathmhaoil, Maria Hutton, Mary Byrne, Mary Doyle, Maureen Mooney, Natalie Wood Folan, Olga Magliocco, Patricia McQuinn, Philippa Maguire, Rebecca Philbin, Renske Boef, Shona Butler, and Susanne Keane.
It will be open to the public from this Friday, July 2, from 4-8pm. Stimuli will run Monday to Saturday 11am to 5pm and Sundays 12pm to 5pm. For further information contact oughterardcap@gmail.com or visit www.ocap.ie.
