NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR KINVARA TO BE DELAYED

Plans for a new secondary school in Kinvara look set to be delayed.

In May 2007, the Department of Education gave a committment to have a new second level school in Kinvara by 2012.

This followed a decision by the Trustees of Seamount College to stop enrolling students.

However, Senator Ciaran Cannon raised the issue with Education Minister, Batt O’ Keefe in the Seanad.

Minister O’ Keefe responded by stating that no progress on acquiring a site for a new school has been made.

Senator Cannon says the Trustees of Seamount College and the Department of Education are now looking at other options.
