NEW ROUNDABOUT TO BE BUILT AT LOUGHGEORGE ON N17

Major changes are in the pipeline for the N17 at Loughgeorge.

Galway county council has announced plans to build a roundabout at the N17 junction with the N63, the main road to Roscommon, according to PD county councillor Jim Cuddy.

It’s believed a fourth exit will be built on the roundabout leading to Corrandulla.

Work is expected to begin in the autumn, costing several hundred thousand euro.

The junction has been the scene of several serious crashes in recent years.

The contract documents for a Quality Bus Corridor from Loughgeorge to Claregalway will also be signed in the autumn.

Councillor Cuddy says the two traffic calming projects will increase road safety in the area.
